Check this out, from the Star Online eCentral - Malaysia Entertainment:
A New-Look Devo for Kids
New-wave pioneers Devo have reformed and renamed themselves Devo 2.0, but positioned to appeal to children this time.
The Devo 2.0 album, featuring vocals provided by a quintet of children, will be released in March next year.
An accompanying DVD will feature animated and live-action video clips for each of the songs directed by Devo bassist Gerry Casale.

Re: Devo 2.0
Thu, December 29, 2005 - 10:12 AMThis is getting wacky:
"Disney Sound, the family-oriented division of Walt Disney records is set to launch "Devo 2.0" on March 17, 2006."
www.gameshout.com/news/1220...le2170.htm
Disney and Devo, who would've thunk it! Wonder what songs will be on the album/DVD? Somehow I don't think "Sloppy" will make the final cut! -

Thu, December 29, 2005 - 11:07 AMDevo's songs are mostly CLEAN. They only SOUND dirty. -

Re: Devo 2.0
Sat, December 31, 2005 - 7:36 AMFrom Punknews.org:
"The album... is said to include many of their "hits", including the classic "Whip It", as well as two new originals, entitled "Cyclops" and "The Winner".

Of course there are exceptions, like 'Penetration in the Centerfold'?

Re: Devo 2.0
Fri, December 30, 2005 - 11:58 AMThere is another unreleased new/old Devo recording from this last year--Jihad Gerry---where he re-recorded classics like "I need a chick"---I think Disney is missing the boat by not releasing this one instead... -

Re: Devo 2.0
Fri, December 30, 2005 - 7:23 PM"I need a Chick" and "Bamboo Bimbo" are the exception.
Songs like 'Whip It' and 'Jerkin' Back and Forth' are of the prevailing tendency.
BTW: Did we ever actually find out what the 'uncontrollable urge' was?

Re: Devo 2.0
Thu, January 5, 2006 - 3:22 AMMore info on Devo 2.0:
"Devo's key, original members helped rerecord a host of past hits from Whip It to Through Being Cool and Beautiful World for a new CD/DVD due out in March. The kids of Devo 2.0 sing the vocals and are planning a number of gigs. A TV series is also a possibility. Even the mildly nerdy sexual songs Girl U Want, Uncontrollable Urge and Jerkin' Back N'Forth are on Devo 2.0's play list. "

Re: Devo 2.0
Fri, January 13, 2006 - 4:28 AMAnother update, from the CMJ site, including a small image of the Devo kids:
www.cmj.com/articles/display_article.php
"The accompanying DVD includes animated and live music videos directed by original bassist Gerry Casale, and both the DVD and the CD feature Devo's first new tracks in 20 years, "Cyclops" and "The Winner." The first Devo 2.0 video, for Devo's (or Devo 1.0's, we guess) "Whip It," features electric beaters instead of leather whips, thus turning the metaphorically-naughty song into kid-friendly entertainment. Also notable is the replacement of Devo's trademark flowerpot hats with sideways baseball caps, thus finally proving Devo 1.0's theory of devolution to be entirely true." -

Re: Devo 2.0
Wed, January 25, 2006 - 6:45 PMThe point is WHY would they do this??
I realize they -MM in particular- have done a lot of commercial producing but jeeezus, partnering with Disney and having kids sing their songs (with many lyrics changed) just seems wrong!
Yeah, anyone can re-invent themselves, but shiiiiiit.
Reminds me of the other night when my 24 y.o. roommate and I were watching t.v. There was a segment about former boxing champs Ali and Foreman. My roommate said to me: "I didn't know G.F. used to be a boxer." -Christalmighty! -

Re: Devo 2.0
Fri, February 10, 2006 - 8:48 PMDEVO have won a major battle with the American culture machine.
Can't we just enjoy this until the people at Disney realize what they've done and can the whole project?
